5th China Trade Week (CTW) Kenya 2019 preview press conference Attracts VIP speakers, 50+ medias

NAIROBI,May 14th 2019MIE Groups Chairman DavidWang and MIE Groups International Events Director Zahoor Ahmed welcomed here onTuesday May 14 at the prestigious Sarova Stanley Hotel, on a sunny Tuesday, inKenya’s capital Nairobi, a lineup of seven dignitaries and leaders of publicand private entities and more than 50 national and international mediarepresentatives in order to announce the 5th edition of ChinaTrade Week (CTW) Kenya 2019.

The 5th CTWKenya will be held in two phases from 5-7 June and from 10-12 June in theKenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).

Inhis opening remarks, Mr. Wang looked back at the first CTW Kenya which was heldin 2015 and thank MIE Group’s clients, partners, supporters and Kenyan publicand private entities along with MIE’s Kenyan long-time partner GlobalExhibitions for their continuous contributions to the biggestbusiness-to-business event in the East African country. “It is of nocoincidence that CTWKenya was launched shorty after China launched the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI), the masterplan to economically integrate China with Central Asia, MiddleEast, Africa and Europe, back in 2013,” said Wang.

Mr.Wang also thanked Global Exhibitions CEO Edwin Masivo for his corporate socialresponsibility through his Joanne Chazima Sickle Cell Foundation.

Accordingto Zahoor Ahmed, International Events Director, MIE Groups, CTWKenya will boast more than 500 exhibitors while the show expects 30,000+visitors. “Beside our popular B2B matchmaking area, CTW Kenya 2019 will host asa ‘first’ conference sessions on the 5th of June and the 10th ofJune,” Ahmed pointed out in his speech. He added: “Top experts will deliverpresentations about trade, Kenyan-Chinese economic relations and financingsolutions for Kenyan exporters. CTW is about two-way trade whereas both sidesbenefit.” He highlighted the benefits of the Mombasa-Nairobi railways which wasbuilt by Chinese construction firms.

Industrysectors represented at CTW Kenya will be Building Materials, Construction,Water & Environment Treatment, Furniture & Interior, Textiles, Print,Packaging, Plastics, Consumer Goods, Automobile, Electrical & ICT andAgriculture.  

Ms.Joyce Kibet, Business Development Advisor said in her address to the media thatrelations between Kenya and China can only grow stronger as the East Africancountry has been playing a strong role in filling the 21st CenturyMaritime Silk Road as part of the New Silk Road with life.  

NemaisaKiereini, CEO of KNCCI (Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry pledgedthe organisation’s ongoing support for CTW Kenya and added that the businesscommunity was looking forward to lifting Chinese-Kenyan relations to the nextlevel.

CTWKenya’s partner Stanbic Bank, the biggest wealth manager in Africa, wasrepresented by Ezekiel Yuaya, Ezekiel Yuaya. He gave examples of how the lendersuccessfully financed projects in relation to infrastructure and small andmedium enterprises banking on BRI.

COLOHOMall’s Chairman Jerry Zhang thanked MIE Groups for the new partnership bothsides signed recently and invited the media and visitors to the officialopening of COLOHO Mall, Nairobi, which will be held parallel to CTW Kenya’sphase 1 on the 7th of June.

Scoresof one-to-one interviews were held with MIE Groups representatives and VIPspeakers. All tier-1 media were present along with Chinese state news agencyXinhua and Chinese news channel CGTN, to mention a few. The media briefing wasfollowed by High Tea and intensive networking.
